Mobile Context-Aware Applications for Ubiquitous Computing

CALL FOR ARTICLES Journal of Universal Computer Science (J.UCS) Special Issue: Mobile Context-Aware Applications for Ubiquitous Computing ** NEW Submission deadline: January 31, 2010 ** Mobile devices are changing users’ technological habits since the possibilities to be connected to Internet everywhere are increasing as technology is surrounding all aspects of users’ life. A user with a mobile device can find that its standard functionality can be extended with those applications and services provided by the environment. Moreover, the user can influence in the environment by means of its interactions. An important requirement is that the mobile device has to be able to interact with the context. Recent advances in mobile technology are providing mobile users with the capacity to interact with their surrounding world. Mobile systems can be deployed in a wide range of physical environments. The context awareness needed in these scenarios is much more than a question of location or positioning. These systems have to address more sophisticated techniques to adapt the system’s behavior to the context of the user. This Special Issue is intended to offer an innovative and original vision of the now and future context-aware applications for ubiquitous computing. TOPICS COVERED * Approaches to Applications development * Mobile and Ubiquitous devices and pervasive environments * Application design * Technology and Platform analysis * Global Pervasive computing issues * Global Pervasive computing issues * Trends in HCI techniques * Usability evaluation * User Interface Personalization * Interface designs for pervasive technologies * Modeling context-aware applications * Online and Pervasive communities * Interface design implications * Human psychology and social aspects of computing and applications * Education and training * Social ambient intelligence * Context-aware adaptation * Human factors in Ubiquitous computing * Mobile application contexts * Process models for context-aware systems * Collaborative issues in context aware systems SUBMISSION OF PAPERS All manuscripts should be submitted by email to the guest editors.
