Post-doc position at UHasselt on XML schema learning

{\rtf1\ansi\ansicpg1252\cocoartf949\cocoasubrtf540 {\fonttbl\f0\fswiss\fcharset0 Helvetica;} {\colortbl;\red255\green255\blue255;\red0\green79\blue176;} \paperw11900\paperh16840\margl1440\margr1440\vieww12400\viewh14600\viewkind0 \deftab720 \pard\pardeftab720\ql\qnatural \f0\fs24 \cf0 The Database and Theoretical Computer Science Research Group\ offers a two-year post-doctoral position at Hasselt University. \ This position is associated with the EU FP7 project "FOX: Foundations\ of XML - Safe Processing of Dynamic Data over the Internet" ({\field{\*\fldinst{HYPERLINK "http://fox7.eu/"}}{\fldrslt \cf2 \ul \ulc2 http://fox7.eu/}}) which runs\ for three years from May 2009. The FOX project involves seven European\ institutions (INRIA, TU Dortmund, Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Hasselt,\ Warsaw, and Oxford) and is led by Luc Segoufin.\ \ Within this project, the successful applicant will work on\ schema learning for XML under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Frank\ Neven. The intended research will consist both of theoretical investigations as\ well as experimental evaluation of novel learning algorithms for XML schema\ languages. Furthermore, an important outcome of the research will be the incorporation\ of the studied algorithms in FOXLIB, the XML library in development by the FOX consortium.\ \ The applicant must possess a doctoral degree in Computer Science. In addition, the \ applicant should be skilled in theoretical computer science (especially\ string and tree automata); have a strong interest in either of the following areas: grammatical inference,\ data mining, or machine learning; and should be able to supervise and take part in the development of new software modules for FOXLIB related to schema learning.\ \ Deadline for application is January 11th 2010.
