Please forward to any interested candidates Department of Computer Science at Aalborg University in Denmark offers several vacancies at different levels: PhD Fellow, research assistant or post doc expected to start on January 1 2010 or as soon as possible after with a deadline for applications on November 30 2009 The vacancies are available within Intelligent Web and Information Systems group (IWIS, http://iwis.cs.aau.dk). The funding is available within FP7 projects KIWI, idSpace and MEco. Your research will focus on topics in the following areas: - advanced personalized information retrieval and recommender systems techniques based on social activities such as tagging - web engineering in the system area of information retrieval, event detection, recommender systems and social web portals - with focus on application domain in medical and epidemic events identification from social media Interested candidates should have following competencies: - excellent master or PhD degree in computer science preferably in information retrieval, recommender systems, database management with focus on web, web engineering or related areas - advanced programming skills and experiences from web portals development and integration preferably in technologies related to JAVA - fluent in English (speaking and writing) - good social and collaboration skills - knowledge in medical domain especially with relevance to epidemic events is an advantage - experiences in collaborative research projects is an advantage Your main duties will be to perform research and programming within the IWIS group and the associated projects as well as help with daily tasks in the group. IWIS group is a young, dynamic, and international research group. Currently active research areas of the group are influenced by world wide web research and includes: * infrastructures for intelligent information systems on the web * web personalization strategies and algorithms * engineering adaptive web PhD fellow and research assistant positions are intended for candidates who would like to pursue a PhD degree. Post Doc position is intended for candidates who would like to further develop and deepen their research profile as well as help with management tasks. You will be given an opportunity to develop your teaching skills as well. Your salary will depend on position and ranges between approximately 24 000 DKK and 30000 DKK before taxes per month (1EUR is approximately 7.5 DKK).
