CALL FOR CHAPTER PROPOSALS
Introduction
F=
or a
long time, network security has been known to be mainly about the
encryption/decryption techniques. In the past decade, network security has
gradually but surely moved towards securing the network environment rather =
than
just the stored or transferred data. Increased interest on the intrusion
detection together with prevention and response proves that protecting the =
data
either in the storage or during the transfer is necessary, but not sufficie=
nt,
for the security of a network. It is very important to secure network resou=
rces
and to prevent attacks on the network. Correct and timely response is an
important issue in this area of research that may help us to protect networ=
ks
against intrusion attempts.

rivacy
of the users made use of the networks, especially the Internet, something to
worry about. Many researchers have focused their research on improving the
privacy on the net. Nevertheless, this issue is still unsolved and data
collection from the network users, in particular Internet users, is still a=
n unsolved
problem.
Objective of the B=
ook
This book aims to explore the latest practic=
es
and research works in the area of privacy, intrusion detection, and respons=
e. The
intention is to prepare a collection of articles presenting new and unpubli=
shed
works in this area. The book intends to provide a collection of novel ideas,
theories, and solutions in the areas related to the aforementioned research
area.
Target Audience
This book aims to satisfy the needs of
researchers, academics, and practitioners working in the field of privacy,
intrusion detection, and response. Technical people, such as network securi=
ty
officers, administrators, and application developers, who may need in depth
knowledge of the concepts targeted in this book, may also need to read this
book. Research institutes in the area of network security and educational
institutes with graduate level courses on network security or school of
computer science/engineering of the universities can use this book as a
reference.
Recommended topics
include, but are not limited to, the following:
-&nb=
sp;
Intrusion Detection, Prevention, and
Response Systems (IDPRS): Any parts of IDPRS in either host-based or networ=
k-based
for different types of networks (e.g., Wired, Ad-hoc) are considered.
-&nb=
sp;

in
the area of honey pots
-&nb=
sp;

Submission
Procedure
Researchers and practitioners are invited to
submit on or before November 30, 2009, a 2-3 page chapter proposal clearly
explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors=
of
accepted proposals will be notified by December 15, 2009 about the status of
their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to =
be
submitted by March 31, 2010. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a
double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as
reviewers for this project.
Publisher
This book is scheduled to be published by IGI
Global (formerly Idea Group Inc.), publisher of the "Information Scien=
