Web and Mobile Information Services

*Call for Papers* The Knowledge Engineering Review Journal http://journals.cambridge.org/action/displayJournal?jid=ker Special issue on Web and Mobile Information Services http://ghitak.googlepages.com/kerspecialissue Introduction The recent advances in the Web and mobile information technologies offer new and exciting services to users ranging from e-commerce, entertainment to public services. Users have now the luxury of accessing a wide range of information from anywhere at anytime. These new developments however introduce many new challenging problems. For example, users want mobile devices to react to the changes in locations, context, contents and variation in network bandwidth while accessing Web contents. These challenges suggest tackling the problem of service adaptation at the application level of services. Further the service-oriented computing facilitates the provisioning of web and mobile services in an open, loosely coupled and distributed environment. Thus service consumers can acquire services on the fly and tailor them to their own preferences, beliefs and needs. Aims & Scope of the Special Issue This special issue seeks submissions related to the following topics (but not limited to): • Architectures for Web and mobile information services • Context oriented service provisioning • Data models and query languages • Location aware services • Middleware support for web and mobile services • Performance and reliability models • Search and discovery techniques • Web services, semantic web and applications • Transaction and workflow models • Trust and privacy in Web and mobile services Important dates • Submission of full papers: 23 November 2009 (new deadline) • Acceptance/rejection notification: 18 January 2010 • Submission of final version: 22 February 2010 Submission procedure We welcome the submission of original research papers that are not under review for conferences, workshops, or other journals.
