Vacancy: Researcher working on process mining and/or remote software management at TU/e

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU/e) has a vacancy for a researcher in the area of process mining and/or remote software management within the expertise group Architecture of Information Systems (AIS). This is a temporary position in the context of the KWR project in collaboration with Philips Healthcare. The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science provides undergraduate and MSc programs in Industrial and Applied Mathematics and in Computer Science. The Department has research collaborations with other Departments at the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven as well as with a large number of other universities and companies, both at home and abroad. The Department has approximately 350 employees and more than 700 students. The Architecture of Information Systems group is doing research in the area of process modeling and analysis. The group uses formal methods such as Petri nets to design, analyze, and implement dynamic systems. The group is well-known for its work on Petri nets, workflow management, process mining, and process verification. Requirements: Candidates for this function should have a PDEng (in areas such as Software Technology) or a PhD degree (in areas such as Computer Science) and shall have the ability to use and extend advanced process mining techniques to harvest the required information from the data and deploy this in real life situations with real data or have good implementations skills. A team player is required since multiple people are working on this topic, and different data sources are to be combined. Since the work will partly take place within an innovation department of Philips Healthcare, a “self supporting innovator” attitude is required. DUE TO THE SPECIFIC RULES OF THIS TYPE OF FUNDING, ONLY PEOPLE THAT FORMALLY FINALIZED THEIR PhD OR PDEng IN 2008 OR 2009 CAN APPLY! (Note that the formal moment of getting the PhD/PDEng is important, i.e., people that finished writing a PhD but still need to get their degree or people that got a degree in 2007 or before cannot be appointed.) Position: TU/e is offering a position as researcher (UFO category “Onderzoeker”) at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of Eindhoven University of Technology for a period of 1 October 2009 (or later) until 31 December 2010. Employment and salary are in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement of the Dutch Universities (CAO NU). Application: Interested candidates are requested to send an application (motivational letter, curriculum vitae, copies of diplomas, as well as proof of English language skills) by e-mail to Ine van der Ligt (wsinfsys@tue.nl) with the reference "Application KWR project" in the subject field.
