Software Developer for the Stork Project

SOFTWARE DEVELOPER POSITION - STORK PROJECT Center for Computation & Technology @LSU The Center for Computation & Technology (CCT) is an interdisciplinary research center on the LSU campus, where representatives from all areas of academics work with the high-performance computing resources available on campus to advance breakthroughs. Currently, the center is looking for an experienced Software Developer for our NSF funded Stork Data Scheduler project. Stork, http://www.storkproject.org, is an innovative data scheduling software for large-scale distributed computing applications used by both the scientific and industrial communities. Required Qualifications: B.S. or M.S in Computer Science or a related area, C/C++ programming experience (5+ years), expertise on UNIX-based platforms and software testing, packaging, porting, maintenance, and technical support. Excellent understanding of software development process and experience with developing production quality code is required. A good understanding of distributed computing models and applications is highly desired. A track record of publications, patents and ties with the research community, and a PhD in Computer Science or related field is also a strong plus. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible of the development and implementation of the core Stork Data Scheduler functionalities; testing, validating, and releasing software; porting it to different architectures; and providing technical support to users. Depending on the qualifications of the candidate, the job may also include writing research publications; collaboration with other complimentary on-going research projects; working closely with an interdisciplinary research team and with several application groups together to achieve the goals of Stork Project.
