Services Research Positions at IBMÕs T.J. Watson Research Center IBM T.J. Watson Research center invites applications for regular multiple research staff member positions. The new hire will immediately participate in a Smarter Living Services research program. The program is a multi-year effort to focus on Smarter Healthcare supporting a global collaboration opportunities with global research partners and IBM World-wide research labs. Services research, a relatively new field, focuses on developing innovative ways to design, manage and enhance service design and delivery in areas including smarter healthcare, enterprise IT, mobility, smarter infrastructure, etc. Skills in medical informatics, healthcare operational process design and delivery of IT infrastructure, systems and applications, business process modeling and transformation, operations and quality engineering, and services systems are all highly relevant to this field. While candidates from all backgrounds relevant to Services Research will be considered, IBM has a strong interest in strengthening its team in the areas of cloud computing and Smarter Planet. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: (1) cloud system for data-intensive and/or event-driven services, e.g., analytic services, real-time monitor services, etc.; (2) applied statistics, data mining and machine learning; (3) developing a science of service delivery (analogous to Computer Science, but focused on facilitating services rather than computing); (4) business modeling, systems dynamic modeling, socio-economic modeling of complex systems such as healthcare and (5) bioinformatics and evidence-based medicine. The preferred candidate will have deep expertise and significant accomplishments in one of the above areas.
