PostDoc Data base for Natural Teggs
PostDoc Data base for Natural Teggs: Classification of fresh eggs
The Centre for Telematics and Information Technology (CTIT) is a
multidisciplinary research institute of the University of Twente,
Enschede, The Netherlands. CTIT coordinates the research activities in
all the areas relevant to the development, the introduction and the
usage of information technology systems. http://www.ctit.utwente.nl/
CTIT cooperates with a number of industrial partners in a 2 year
research project aimed at developing a secure data base.
Project Description
Consumers are increasingly demanding about the quality of the food they
buy, while producers are increasingly concerned about the cost of
providing quality guarantees. The Natural Teggs project will design a
tracking and tracing system for fresh eggs that follows the eggs from
the farm to the supermarket. All partners in the production chain of
fresh eggs are resented in the project as well as suppliers of hi-tech
equipment for egg processing, egg printing, and physical, biological and
chemical measurement of food products.
Research
The research challenges for the PostDoc are firstly to design the data
base such that it is capable of storing the data on millions of eggs per
day, and secondly to ensure that all parties in the production chain can
access the data according to agreed security policies.
