The Center for Applied Scientific Computing at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory has an opening for a postdoctoral researcher to perform advanced research and development in the area of scientific data mining, specifically analysis of streaming data. Essential duties include: - Conduct independent research and development in one or more areas of computer science of interest to CASC, such as: signal processing, machine learning; data mining, and statistics. - Document research and development progress via technical reports, journal publications, and conference presentations. - Develop software to evaluate novel computational techniques. - Interact with scientists from DOE programs to help address their computational needs. Essential skills, knowledge, and abilities include: - Recent Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field. - Research experience in signal processing, data mining, statistics, or a related field. - Demonstrated ability to conduct high quality research and to develop implementations to evaluate the results. - Advanced programming skills in C++ and Python. - Experience with statistical techniques and data analysis methods. - Experience implementing and evaluating novel computational techniques and publishing the results.
