Senior Software Engineers Database Internals

Summary Description:
Emphasis of this position is the Teradata database software but position also includes involvement in new extensibility features being added to the database. Work with challenging partners and customers on special projects focusing on the extensibility aspects of the Teradata Database to enable new cool applications.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
* Architect and Design extensibility features
* Write design and test specifications for these features
* Plan and manage engineering tasks within the extensibility projects
* Perform related requirements analysis, performance analysis, and problem analysis
* As needed, establish technical direction for complex Teradata feature development
* Perform competitive analysis of competing database management systems and recommend Teradata product changes to close competitive gaps or to enhance competitive advantages

Basic Qualifications:
* A Masters degree in Computer Science or related discipline or foreign equivalent
* 10 years of experience programming with C/C++/Java programming language and working knowledge of Windows and UNIX or Linux operating systems gained through a combination of academic studies and work experience
* 8 years of working knowledge of SQL gained through a combination of academic studies and work experience
* 1 year of experience working with complex software in a parallel process environment gained through a combination of academic studies and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
* PhD degree in Computer Science or related discipline or foreign equivalent
