Services Research Positions at IBM Research Collaboratory in Taiwan IBM Research intends to invite applications for multiple research scientist positions (in Services Research) for an international research collaboratory center in Taipei, Taiwan. The initial research focus will be ÒSmarter Living ServicesÒ. The working location is in Taipei, Taiwan with opportunities to work collaboratively with local Taiwan partners and IBM World-wide research labs. The compensation is commensurate with qualifications. Services research, a relatively new field, focuses on developing innovative ways to design, manage and enhance service design and delivery in areas including smarter healthcare, enterprise IT, mobility, smarter infrastructure, etc. The collaboratory is in essence a multi-disciplinary effort, involving specialists in fields ranging from computer sciences, healthcare to social sciences, and from Industrial engineering, statistics to user-centric design. Skills in design and delivery of IT infrastructure, systems and applications, business pro! cess modeling and transformation, operations and quality engineering, and services systems are all highly relevant to this field. While candidates from all backgrounds relevant to Services Research will be considered, IBM has a strong interest in strengthening the team in the broad application areas of cloud computing and Smarter Planet. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: (1) applied statistics, data mining and machine learning in the medical/healthcare domains (2) distributed architecture for data-intensive cloud services (3) developing a science of service delivery (analogous to Computer Science, but focused on facilitating services rather than computing). (4) business modeling, systems dynamic modeling, socio-economic modeling of complex systems such as healthcare and (5) bioinformatics evidence based medicine, and information based medicine. The preferred candidate will have deep experience/expertise and significant accomplishments in one of the above areas. The selected candidates will primarily support a Smarter Living Services Research Collaboratory and also be expected to develop exploratory research in the smarter living domain.
