About CSIRO, ICT Centre, and the Information Engineering Lab
CSIRO (http://www.csiro.au/), the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, is
Australia's national science agency and one of the largest and most diverse research organizations in the
world. CSIRO has over 6000 staff in 15 research Divisions located across 55 sites throughout Australia and
overseas. These carry out research and development in areas of economic, social and environmental
importance, including: information and communication technologies, agriculture, the environment, health,
advanced materials and manufacturing, minerals and energy, services, and transport and infrastructure.
The ICT Centre (http://www.ict.csiro.au/) has 260 staff in six Laboratories and is CSIRO's research hub for
information and communication technologies. ICT Centres core research areas include services science and
computing, sensors and sensor networks, broadband wireless, and combinations of these to provide novel
solutions for water, energy, climate change, and the environment.
The information Engineering Laboratory develops science, technology and architectures for finding,
combining, integrating, managing, and delivering services and information to any person or organisation
that needs them, where and when they are needed, and via a secure way that ensures privacy and protects
the environment.
