Post-doc position at LIG research lab, Grenoble, France - Parallel Learning for Multimedia Semantic

The LIG research lab opens a post-doc position 12 months located in Grenoble, France Period: 2009-2010 Research topic Parallel Learning for Multimedia Semantic Indexing Keywords: Machine Learning, Parallelism, Multimedia Indexing. Context The position is proposed in the context of the APIMS project (Apprentissage Parallèle pour l'Indexation Multimédia Sémantique or Parallel Learning for Multimedia Semantic Indexing) supported by the pole MSTIC of the Joseph Fourier University. The amount of digital image and video documents is growing exponentially since many years and this trend should continue for a long time thanks to technological advances in this field. Indexing by concepts of image and video documents is a necessity to effectively manage the masses of data. Indeed, the keywords necessary for searching into the contents are not explicitly present as in the case of textual documents. Search from examples or from features called “low level” also has serious limitations: the required samples are generally not available and low-level features are not easily manipulated and interpreted by a user. Moreover, similarity at the level of these features does notnull
