MDM 2010 - Call for Industrial/Application Papers

REMINDER: Paper abstract submission deadline in 1 month! Paper abstract Registration: Mon, October 19, 2009 (midnight Central) Paper Submission: Mon, October 26, 2009 (midnight Central) Acceptance notification: Wed, February 10, 2010 Camera-ready copy due: Wed, March 17, 2010 Call for Industrial/Application Paper 11th International Conference on Mobile Data Management (MDM 2010) In Cooperation with IEEE TCDE/TCI (pending), ACM SIGMOBILE/SIGMOD (pending) Kansas City, USA, May 23rd to 26th http://www.sce.umkc.edu/mdm2010 Since their debut in December 1999, the MDM series of conferences has become established as a prestigious forum for the exchange of innovative and significant research results in mobile data management. The conference provides unique opportunities for researchers, engineers, practitioners, developers, and users to synergistically explore new ideas, techniques, and tools, and to exchange experiences. In 2009, MDM extended its scope to cover research issues in mobile systems, services, and middleware. Scope: Continued miniaturizations of computing devices, along with improvements in their performance/price ratios, have enabled the development of exciting new services and applications. Selected examples include location-based services, mobile data management, ubiquitous computing applications, secured data sharing and processing in sensor networks, environmental monitoring and transportation, and pervasive computing. These developments will enable the next wave of the information revolution, and will impact the daily lives of members of our society. However, as we move a step closer from mobile computing towards the grand vision of pervasive and ubiquitous computing, a number of challenges need to be overcome, especially when it comes to data-intensive applications: scale, variable and intermittent connectivity, location dependence and context awareness, bandwidth and power consumption, device size limitations, and multimedia delivery across hybrid networks. The industrial track of MDM 2010 has been designed to attract the most recent developments in the area of data management in mobile, ubiquitous, and pervasive computing. Consequently, the industrial track of MDM 2010 brings together active professionals and researchers from both academic and industry communities in an environment to share their practical experience and disseminate information of particular interest to each other involved in ¡°real-life¡± system-oriented development. We solicit original and previously unpublished papers on various aspects of the design, implementation, and deployment of mobile data and information management systems in real-life applications. The topics of interest are similar to those in the MDM 2010 conference call for papers. However, we emphasize practical experience, lessons learned, technical and business challenges, proof-of-concepts, standards, and clean slate designs for the Industrial Track submissions. We aim to disseminate information of particular interest to developers and others involved in real-life systems. Submission Instructions: Submissions should be made at https://cmt.research.microsoft.com/MDM2010/ to the industry/ Application track. Submitted papers should not exceed 10 pages, including title, authors and affiliations, abstract, body, all tables, all illustrations, and references. They should be in PDF and follow IEEE camera-ready format (www.ieee.org/web/publications/pubservices/confpub/Author Tools/conferenceTemplates.html).
