Sr. Java Developer

Summary Description:
The accepted candidate will work in Teradatas Client and Platform Engineering department as a Senior Java Developer. You will be contributing to multiple product areas, using servlet and JDBC technology to provide access to the Teradata RDBMS via a J2EE Java Message Service (JMS), providing direct integration between OLAP clients and Teradata data warehouses, and developing/enhancing a tool to automate the building and deployment of cube-based aggregations (AJIs). Our goal is to provide state-of-the-art client-side tools to enhance the Teradata DBS user experience.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
* Define, design, develop, validate and support code that provides higher performance access to Teradata via JMS message queues and topics
* Analyze multi-dimensional modeling and MDX provider solutions
* Assist in the development of an aggregate design tool
* Provide guidance and direction to junior engineers
* Communicate effectively with engineers, testers, customer support, and documentation personnel locally and remotely
* Work with DBS developers to negotiate and design supporting features
* Provide content to the Teradata Developer Exchange (DevX)

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, creative, experienced software engineer, who is ready to contribute to the success of Teradata as well as mentor less senior engineers.
Highly developed verbal and written communication skills will be necessary to interact with other development teams, 3rd Party contractors, and offshore engineers.
Familiarity with the entire development life cycle will be necessary, including specification, design, development, documentation, quality assurance, release activities, and post-release support.
Basic Qualifications:
* US Permanent Residence
* BS in Computer Science
* 8+ years of experience in software development, using object oriented methodologies
* 3+ years of experience creating and maintaining production quality Web Applications utilizing Java, Servlets/JSP, JMS, JNDI, JDBC, Junit, and Ant
* 3+ years of experience developing RDBMS based client applications
* 2+ years experience with SQL.
* 2+ years with MDX and OLAP, ROLAP cube based methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
* MS in Computer Science
* Experience and knowledge of star and snowflake schemas
* Experience using RDBMS join indexes
* Experience deploying web applications under NetWeaver, WebLogic, WebSphere application servers
* Familiarity with Microsoft Analysis Services(MSAS)
* Familiarity with SSO using LDAP/Kerberos
* Experience using the Eclipse RCP
* Experience developing Teradata RDBMS related applications
