2 Postdocs Architectural Knowledge Sharing in Product lines f/m

The VU University Amsterdam is one of the leading institutions for higher
education in Europe. It is part of international science networks and
collaborates with many major universities throughout the world.
The Faculty of Sciences consists of four departments; Physics and Astronomy,
Informatics, Mathematics and Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences with 650
employees including researchers, lecturers, full- and part-time
professors. The
faculty offers 10 bachelor and 12 master courses and has over 1500 students.
The Department of Computer Science seeks two postdocs in the Stephenson
project: Architectural knowledge sharing practices in software product lines
for print systems. The software engineering group at the VU University
Amsterdam has built up a strong track record in the research field of
sharing
architecture knowledge in the GRIFFIN project. The Stephenson project is a
cooperation between Océ and VU University, and is funded through the
Ministry
of Economic Affairs. The project gets a lot of national and international
exposure. The project involves intense cooperation between university
researchers and a group of both experienced and young professionals from a
multi-site/multicultural high tech environment.
Project summary:
Within Océ the approach of software product line development is the
carrier for
a wide variation of machines, with software derived from a common base. This
software is developed at different sites, which calls for effective
communication of the architectural (high-level design) knowledge embedded in
the software across those sites.
The research will deliver improved techniques for architectural knowledge
sharing in software product lines, focusing on variability points and their
associated variants. Particular attention will be paid to practices for the
effective sharing of architectural knowledge in multi-site research and
development organizations.
Requirements
Applicants should have a recent PhD (2008 or later) in computer science,
performing research in software architecture, knowledge management, software
product lines, or related areas, and have a clear interest in collaboration
with industry.
Appointment
The appointment will be initially for one year. If the results are
successful
the appointed period will be prolonged for in totally two years. You can

Salary
The salary is determined according to the collective rules (CAO) of the
Dutch
universities.
Salary scale 10 is applicable (minimum € 2.977,- gross per month), based
on a
fulltime employment.
